sanctuary family medicine
brand development

Sanctuary Family Medicine is a small, suburban medical practice with a strong commitment to providing inclusive, patient-centered care. The client sought to create a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere that would make patients feel connected, included, and supported throughout their experience. A key goal of the project was to establish an environment that felt personal yet professional, while remaining distinct from the often highly corporate and standardized atmosphere associated with larger medical practices.

Working with Dr Baker to establish her core values was a critical step in creating a visual to match the message. It was also important to highlight the powerful choice of the word “Sanctuary” (as place of safety, healing, and refuge) as not only as a physical medical building ‘place’ but also the ‘place’ of a patient’s body and create a visual reference to this. The brand needed to express integration of these two meanings as well as the doctors working together with patients on their health journey. All marketing as well as the acutal office is built using a color palette and brand system that supports the values of Sanctuary’s calming, holistic and welcoming presence.

The symbol expresses both family as well as the concept of direct connection - while also creating a feeling of nature, growth and holistic care. The mark is contained in a circle which ties into the notion of "sanctuary" — a place where patients feel cared for and nurtured. Also important was a small nod to including both adult and pediatric patients, therefore the circle heads were made in various sizes.
